Texas Rangers Game
Hey,
I got a call from band saxophonist Jerry Vivino this afternoon. He'd gotten a hold of some comp tickets (8th row behind home plate) to the Rangers game versus the Oakland A's. So he, bassist Mike Merritt, and I grabbed a taxi ($80.....ouch) to Texas Rangers Stadium. It's a nice, family-friendly stadium. Above centerfield, between bleacher sections, there's an entire baseball-themed playground. There's batting cages, pitching games, a whole wiffle ball field, snack and beverage stands, and more. Behind that stuff is all of the gift shops and restaurants. Capitalism at its finest.
We saw four Texas homeruns, and left when the score hit 7-0 in the seventh. Across the street is the brand new Dallas Cowboys Stadium- a behemoth structure, ridiculous, monstrous. Apparently Jerry Jones spent 1.5-ish BILLION of his own money to erect it. Now maybe THAT'S capitalism at it's very finest.
